Innovation is only beneficial if those who create are given free reign to implement their creations.

If Napster didn’t exist, would we have iTunes?  Unfortunately, the wireless providers are not going to let their wireless networks go the way of their uncontrolled and uncontrollable wired networks.  They can’t make a profit off something they can’t control.  This is what scares me about the iPhone and Apple’s decision to restrict the kinds of applications will run on the iPhone.  Innovation is always stifled by megacorporate control.  

The good thing is, there’s a whole world of developers out there who will unlock those restrictions on the iPhone within minutes.  And the cat and mouse game continues…
