I don’t like to see the world as black and white very often but in this case I do:
You cannot logically support mandated health insurance for all without demanding mandated cost control.
The average premium in Massachusetts is over $13,000 today for a family of four. Premiums double every 8 years, therefore $26,000 in just 8 years. In 16 years, $52,000…and so on…not even the rich will be able to justify that type of expense in just a few years. If you have insurance without cost control, it is a handout to rake in as much profits as possible until insurance becomes totally unaffordable except only for the super wealthy.
The language in the healthcare bills do not mandate controlling costs by XX% over the next 10, 20, or 30 years. The insurance companies have asked Washington to trust them. I don’t and here’s why.
Do you, as our leaders have, trust the insurance companies to willfully control costs on their own? Do you expect the insurance companies to, on their own accord, decrease their profitability and revenues?
I surely don’t. Therefore, I don’t support mandated health insurance if it doesn’t include mandated cost controls. That would be a handout and a fleecing of the hardworking people of America.
