After completing a residency in pediatrics and one in preventive medicine at Johns Hopkins, I started a practice for my neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn in September 2007. People would visit my website; see my Google calendar; choose a time and input their symptoms; my iphone would alert me; I would make a house call; they'd pay me via Paypal; and we'd follow up by email, IM, videochat, or in person.

Fast Company calls me The Doctor of the Future. I've got a design and consulting firm called The Future Well. Read more about me here.

  • Health on the internet enjoys making things complex.

WebMD and the like make money off the number of pages they can produce on the internet. They crank out hundreds of new pages a day just so they can sell more ads. Complexity and voluminous information confuses. Health on the internet is designed to confuse us in exchange for selling ads. In fact, our health just isn’t that complex.

“Eat food. Mostly plants. Not too much.”

Be active on a regular basis.

Have meaningful relationships with friends and family.

Make a living by doing something you’re good at.

Expand your mind creatively and intellectually.

Survive childhood by drinking clean water, receiving vaccinations, and getting the occasional antibiotic for serious infections.

If you do those things, you’re most likely going to live a very good and long life. And, remember, no matter what the internet says, life and our health just isn’t that complex.
