After completing a residency in pediatrics and one in preventive medicine at Johns Hopkins, I started a practice for my neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn in September 2007. People would visit my website; see my Google calendar; choose a time and input their symptoms; my iphone would alert me; I would make a house call; they'd pay me via Paypal; and we'd follow up by email, IM, videochat, or in person.

Fast Company calls me The Doctor of the Future. I've got a design and consulting firm called The Future Well. Read more about me here.

  • Surprise: NY State Wasted $100 Million In Medicaid

When 17% of the US economy (about $2.5 trillion per year) runs on handwritten notes, it’s no surprise this happens:

NY1 reports that State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli found “New York State has lost nearly $100 million in billing errors and waste in Medicaid. Among the mistakes auditors discovered was nearly $3 million in overpayments, including payments for services such as tooth cleaning for toothless patients. Another audit found the state Department of Health spent $28 million on Medicaid payments for residents of other states.”
