After completing a residency in pediatrics and one in preventive medicine at Johns Hopkins, I started a practice for my neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn in September 2007. People would visit my website; see my Google calendar; choose a time and input their symptoms; my iphone would alert me; I would make a house call; they'd pay me via Paypal; and we'd follow up by email, IM, videochat, or in person.

Fast Company calls me The Doctor of the Future. I've got a design and consulting firm called The Future Well. Read more about me here.

ALERT # 41: Outbreak of Mumps in Brooklyn

    1) 57 confirmed or probable cases of mumps have been identified in Brooklyn since August 21, 2009.

The NYC Department of Health (and the antiquated “mental hygiene”) communicates very efficiently with all the NYC physicians. When there is something weird happening with the city’s public health, we all know about it via an email blast. It’s surely the best Department of Health in the country.

Here’s today’s evidence that the bogus anti-vaccine movement is harming our children. This is almost completely preventable.
