After completing a residency in pediatrics and one in preventive medicine at Johns Hopkins, I started a practice for my neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn in September 2007. People would visit my website; see my Google calendar; choose a time and input their symptoms; my iphone would alert me; I would make a house call; they'd pay me via Paypal; and we'd follow up by email, IM, videochat, or in person.

Fast Company calls me The Doctor of the Future. I've got a design and consulting firm called The Future Well. Read more about me here.

    chimpandsee:

My medical student group, Medical Student Business Association, had our guest speaker Dr. Jay Parkinson come and present today.  Its always an inspirational and very cool event.  Check em out: http://blog.jayparkinsonmd.com/

I will never, ever pass up an opportunity to speak to the future doctors of the world. They need to hear that things can, and will, be done differently and that the future is all about opportunity and greatness rather than the scary unknown that these phenomenal students face.

By the way, the youngest medical students were born in 1988. They’ll soon be doctors thrust into the most backwards thing they could imagine. Paper, DOS, communication silos…that’s such a different world than what they’ve always known.
